Originally built to thoughtlessly follow orders, U2-K4 Mining Bots laid the foundation for construction on Volka Nui.. Their Plasma Charges and Impact Drills made short work of uneven terrain... until it was discovered that they were stripping the land of all natural resources in the process. Decommission followed swiftly.

Years later, disturbing reports emerged from the charred mountains of Dria, telling of surviving Bots defending their last Power Node with their lives - of which Cobalt is one of just a handful. Matoran steer clear of the area for fear of being vaporised on sight by Plasma Charges or drilled into the ground 'til reduced to scattered remains.
