Volkerra is a network of islands populated by the Volkari, located in one of Spherus Magna’s great oceans. It was discovered by explorers after the planet was reformed as part of an initiative to reclaim long-forgotten lands. Its diverse biomes are rich in mana, an invasive substance that afflicts local wildlife with unusually aggressive behaviour. Matoran and wider Volkari society are working to safely neutralize mana's effects by containing its crystalline deposits, while trading its processed form to sustain their civilization.

Topography

It is divided into three major landmasses: Torlan, Motu, and Dria, which surround the now-industrialized Volka Nui, as well as numerous smaller islands scattered throughout the region. Only a fraction of Volkerra has been charted in the handful of years the Volkari have resided here, with Matoran being primarily responsible for mapping the land during their mana-hunting expeditions. Known regions consist largely of the coastal outskirts of each landmass, with information becoming increasingly vague and unreliable deeper inland. 

History

Volkerra’s history is long and storied, with evidence suggesting that an ancient civilization known as the Vadrigar once ruled the land thousands of years ago. The remnants of their battlegrounds and vast superstructures are scattered across Volkerra, now largely reclaimed by encroaching undergrowth.
